“The Moon gloats over russia“ 65x85cm. 2023

paper, gouache, pastel, colored pastel, charcoal, pencils

This painting explores the absurdity of war through the lens of the Chernobyl landscape. A Russian soldier digs a trench in the radioactive Red Forest, his body glowing an unnatural green - a symbol of contamination. Above him, the moon watches with a twisted sense of amusement, making an “OK” gesture while holding a wine glass. It’s a visual metaphor for indifference, mockery, and the senselessness of invasion.
