The babushki's eyes are obscured, mimicking the way military personnel often conceal their identities. The central figure is the captured occupier, has a grim expression and is shown smoking a cigarette. Babushki are armed and stand resolutely, conveying a sense of defiance and strength. The use of dark tones and the satirical subject matter underscore the resilience and unexpected roles of these elderly women in the face of conflict. This piece highlights that people of all ages are involved in protecting their country from occupying forces, showcasing the unity and determination of the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom
